Charlotte Mumm inaugurates "Biased. Pause." at Sputnik Oz The solo-exhibition Biased. Pause. is the Charlotte Mumm's result of The Spur 16/18 residency at Sputnik Oz. It’s a sketch of patterns, prints and objects. During her stay in Bratislava, Charlotte Mumm worked with patterns. These patterns are based on a dialogue with befriended artists about what patterns mean in their work. Patterns —not just as a visual decoration but— as a psychological process, a structure and imprint. And how rhetorical habits infuse the visual world and vice versa. In Biased. Pause. the artist is showing the input and outcome of this dialogue in which she approached patterns as a vehicle looking for clarityor objectivity but simultaneously getting more personal. Through the looking glass. This is accompanied by objects, which are dealing with the ambivalent processes in the pattern making and are providing a counterbalance. All of this is part of an ongoing process. About the artist Charlotte Mumm is living and working in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She studied Fine Arts with Prof. Urs Lüthi at the Kunsthochschule Kassel in Germany from 2000-2008 and spent a study year at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing, China. Her work has been exhibited in Germany and internationally. To name a few: Galerie Tanit in Munich, Städtische Galerie Nordhorn, Kasseler Kunstverein, Eduardo Secci Contemporary in Florence, Galerie Rolando Anselmi in Berlin. Awards and Residencies include e.g. fellowship for the European project ‘The Spur’ in Bratislava, Slovakia, the Saari Residency fellowship from the Kone Foundation, Finland, and a working grant given by the Ministry of Culture Lower Saxony, Germany. In 2018 she is awarded the Werkstattpreis of the Art Foundation Erich Hauser in Rottweil, Germany, and a Sundaymorning@EKWC working grant, Netherlands.

«The Spur» talks about artists in residency and good practices in the IX International Conferences, held in Irun Today «The Spur» project will offer a conference in the Irun Factory (Basque Country) titled «The Spur. European artists in residence and good practices». The conference, directed by Ms. Carme Sais, Bòlit, Centre d'Art Contemporani. Girona's director, takes place in the frame of the IX International Conferences organized by Ciudades Creativas Kreanta within the European project «Singular routes». Ms. Carme Sais conference will be focused in The Spur's Action 2. Innovation, in which the residency periods for artists are taking place. In this way, the highlights of the conference will be the creative residencies and the good practices developed by The Spur in this area, as well as the innovating way of carrying out the artists' training (trough expert mentoring), international mobility and the different experiences of creative residencies, like Professional residency in company, Residency as a user of a shop-workshop or Resident artists in contemporary art spaces. The IX International Conferences, made up with the support of the Irun City Council, are being developed since yesterday and will offer more speeches until tomorrow. Ciudades Creativas Kreanta is collaborating with «Singular routes» project in order to strengthen its European aspect and with the aim to increase its city-city cooperation projects to the field of the cross-border between France and Spain. Likewise, this collaboration also takes place because of the willpower for increase the opportunities of the middle and little size cities to become city models for creating innovation spaces and new development forms of exploration in the filed of the public and local politics.

European project «The Spur» selects fourteen new artists to develop creative residencies in different cities in Europe Visual artists from France, Italy, Spain, Estonia, Austria, Poland, Germany and Hungary will be offered a grant to carry out research work in residency   The European project «The Spur» has selected fourteen visual artists to carry out research work in residency with particular emphasis on creative working processes. This is the second and last open call presented by the European project in this scope (the first residency period took place during February and March 2017). In the current selection process two artists for each participating centre in «The Spur» have been selected, one for the second residency period and another one for the third period.
